and Fellow Community Member, The enclosed materials are being sent for your review, as a proactive measure stemming from a recent disparaging article about Devra Patton West, "Surya Ma" in the Whitefish Pilot Newspaper. The author of the article who appears to be without morals, ethics or professional grooming as a journalist, wrote an article which reads like a cheap Hollywood tabloid paper. The garble ran the gamut from being comical and unintelligible, to being a cruel, uncalled for attack on an innocent community member who lives a quiet, normal life like everyone else. The reporter's information came from an obviously mentally imbalanced person who is obsessed with hatred toward women, targeting Dr. West with utterly fabricated smut on an obscene web-site, with no foundation what so ever in any sort of reality as we know it. Dr. West's friends, family members and supporters are saddened and outraged by the intrusion on her privacy and the absolutely fictitious, far-fetched and unwarranted information that was printed. Devra did not supply the reporter with any commentary what so ever, even though the article printed absurdly off-colored, off-based "quotes" that were too ridiculous to even dignify. Dr. Julio Williams who provided a letter to the editor brings the whole thing into clarity who says "I hope that the Whitefish Pilot comes to realize that it has played party to what boils down to a modern day witch-hunt." Anyone who actually knows Devra Surya Ma, has experienced her to be a kind, courteous, energetic and creative member of the community. We also feel that having just gone through the loss of her father after his two-year battle with cancer that she deserves to grieve in privacy as her father's estate is settled. We also are more than alarmed that the personal affairs of private citizens are fair game to novice local reporters who have not been trained to operate within the parameters of normal journalistic protocol, such as qualifying the credibility of their sources of information. No member of our community should be subject to this type of harassment. If you feel likewise, we ask for your support in helping to counter this vicious and undeserved turn of events. The rebuttals that we have included are for your perusal, to give you an over view of the legitimacy of Devra's circumstances.
